Meta is transferring its IP for Evenstar , a program to accelerate the adoption of openRAN technologies, to the Open Compute Project (OCP). Meta will contribute Evenstar’s radio unit design to OCP, giving the telecom industry its first open, white box radio unit solution.
OpenRAN has been actively in development since 2018. The O-RAN ALLIANCE today includes 32 operator members and 278 vendor and academic contributors. In 2023, OpenRAN was the subject of much debate about its viability, but two major developments in the second half of the year put concerns to rest.
From OpenRAN and disaggregation to the shift towards cloud-based solutions, we are constantly working to reinvent, reinforce and improve network architectures in pursuit of better performance and end-user experiences.
VIAVIs extensive portfolio of emulators can simulate every aspect of RAN networks, from purpose-built systems to 3GPP and O-RAN networks including future 6G /NTN and HetNet deployments.
Participating in its eighth consecutive O-RAN Alliance Global PlugFest, VIAVI once again contributed its comprehensive OpenRAN testing suite and expertise to validate new products, specifications and use cases at nine labs across six countries.
This week we examine how Arista is turning a campus switch into a sensor for network detection and response, a new PCIe card from Mikrotik running router software, a Dell/Marvell partnership on hardware for OpenRAN gear, Cisco and Dell financial results, potential equipment danger from solar flares, and more. Take a Network Break!
We discuss Juniper's RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), how Juniper works with the OpenRAN ecosystem, and more. We discuss Juniper's RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), how Juniper works with the OpenRAN ecosystem, and more.
We also discuss a serious outage at Hive Social, OpenRAN 5G coming to fighter jets, a promise from Broadcom not to raise prices if the VMware acquisition goes through, and more IT news. On today's Network Break we discuss new AWS previews for secure remote access and for connecting applications and services across VPCs.
As digital technologies advance and consumer demands shift, the global telecommunications industry is rapidly undergoing a transformation. Faster networks and lower latencies are required to support emerging technologies such as IoT networks/systems, AI and cloud computing.
In 2023, VIAVI Solutions proudly celebrated our 100-year journey as a global leader in communications test and measurement, and optical technologies. As we embark on our 101st year and beyond, here is a window into the trends we are following in our target markets.
As the telecommunications industry prepares to converge Radio Access Networks (RAN) and Core networks, the need for rigorous testing in a lab environment has never been more critical.
As a trusted leader in test, automation, and optimization, and the only test company awarded funding under NOFO 1, VIAVI brings unmatched expertise to help you accelerate OpenRAN deployments and network performance. Partnering with VIAVI can set your proposal apart!
This generous grant fuels the innovative HiPer-RAN project , a bold initiative intended to transform the U.K.s Open and Autonomous Radio Access Networks. The result? A smarter, more robust mobile telecommunications infrastructure for the U.K., delivering tangible performance leaps.
VIAVI is excited to collaborate with the AI-RAN Alliance, a trailblazer in advancing AI-native Radio Access Networks (RAN), to establish an AI-RAN Alliance-endorsed lab.
