When you run a container on the default Docker bridge network, Docker sets up NAT (Network Address Translation) rules using your systems firewall (via iptables ). For example, the following command forwards traffic from port 8080 on your host to port 80 in the container. x (the containers IP). Whos affected? no p flags).

Apparently the default firewall rule allowing LAN to WAN NAT translation also applies here, so as far as I can determine, no additional Allow rules are needed. These additional WAN addresses are assigned to the single WAN interface using ARP, and may also be called proxy ARP addresses. Am I overlooking anything?

This is similar to Address Resolution Protocol, which maps layer 3 IP addresses to the layer MAC addresses. IP address. To do that it builds the Ethernet Frame and puts its MAC address as the Source MAC address (SMAC) and layer 2 broadcast address (ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff). with 0x4a::56.

We plan to have multiple PtP Ethernets for this customer, and a shared VPN for all sites between their LANs and AWS. The VRF will still need to have a default route for internet access, and I suppose the global table will need a route for the internet WAN IP. Right now this is just on the global table, but I will move it into the VRF.
