Coupling and Cohesion: The Two Principles for Effective Architecture

ByteByteGo

Every large system that spirals out of control starts the same way: small, functional, and deceptively simple. However, as the system evolves, things spiral out of control. A feature is added here, a helper function squeezed there, and a “temporary” dependency for some urgent task that never gets removed. Months later, debugging requires going through five layers of indirection, and touching one module can break the entire system.

However, I do not want to shut down the portI just want to drop or discard the excess broadcast/multicast traffic.

Can you multiplex 5+ ethernet lines such that one of those is selected mechanically or by detection of a signal on that line?

Network Engineering

Hi all I'm a relatively new electrical engineer who's been asked to take 5 Cat 5 data lines and feed them to a hub which selects one of them upon receiving data in that line to send to a computer. As it is now, they have to unplug the one they're currently using and plug in the one they want to use. They want a solution where the cables stay plugged in and one input is selected based upon receiving data on that input (or manual mechanical control).

Before VPN, banned sites won’t load in a browser tab. After connecting, the same tab still blocks them, but a new tab works. Why is that? [closed]

Network Engineering

Hope this question well fits this forum, it is reproducible on chrome browser on both macOS 15.3.2 and Windows 10, I am using VPN based on shadowsocks. I consistently observe this: before I connect to my VPN, I cannot access to any banned website in my browser tab, naturally. However, after I connect to VPN, as long as I am still using the same tag as before, I still cannot access to the websites, creating and using a new tab solves it.
